What is iGEM?

β€œThe iGEM Foundation is an independent, non-profit organization dedicated to the advancement of synthetic biology, education and competition, and the development of an open, collaborative, and cooperative community.

iGEM Competition is, an annual, worldwide synthetic biology event aimed at undergraduate university students, as well as high school and graduate students. Multidisciplinary teams work together to design, build, and test a system of their own design using interchangeable biological parts and standard molecular biology techniques.”

Talking to some friends, we felt like something was missing. After thinking a bit, we realized we wanted to put into practice what we were learning every day. There are already other student groups which involve several faculties, allowing students to get in the game.

However, there wasn’t anything to get involved in biology. Given the numerous faculties related to life sciences, and the will to take on a new challenge, we then found a team that aims to practice biology, maybe even to change the world a little (in our small way).

And what better way to achieve so than to join the biggest competition in synthetic biology?
